Emergency bridge repairs to begin March 11 on Pottersville Road in Chester Township
CHESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Emergency repairs to the Pottersville Road bridge over a tributary of the Black River will begin Wednesday, March 11, in Chester Township, according to Morris County officials.
The work is needed to address damage to a section of the bridge’s stone masonry parapet.
The structure, identified as Bridge No. 1401-258, is a single-span stone masonry arch bridge measuring approximately seven feet in length with a roadway about 21.8 feet wide. Stone masonry parapets line both sides of the roadway. Officials said the original construction date of the bridge is unknown.
During construction, traffic will be maintained with one lane of alternating travel through the work zone. Motorists traveling through the area may experience minor delays and are advised to use caution.
Sparwick Contracting Inc., of Lafayette, will perform the emergency repair work. The county-funded project is estimated to cost approximately $123,000.
