
Erratic driver arrested for DWI after crash in Morris County
MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – An erratic driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated after crash in Mount Olive Township.
On Sept. 10, at around 5:10 p.m., police received a 9-1-1 call from a concerned citizen regarding an erratic driving complaint with a child in the rear seat without a seatbelt. The caller described a silver sedan with a female driver and provided a license plate, officials said.
While officers were enroute to the traffic complaint, dispatch received a second caller advising that they were involved in a motor vehicle crash with a silver sedan. Officers arrived on scene and made contact with Stacey M Herles, 52, of Stanhope borough, police said.
Officers on scene allegedly observed Herles to have obvious signs of impairment. Officers later determined the traffic complaint was the same vehicle involved in the motor vehicle crash, police said.
Herles was arrested and charged with under the influence of controlled dangerous substances, child neglect/ abuse, DWI, refusal to submit to breath testing, failure to secure child with a seatbelt, failure to possess registration and insurance cards, reckless driving, uninsured motorist, and failing to maintain lane, police said.
She was then released to a sober driver pending a court appearance, police said.
