Fawn rescued from Raritan River in Hunterdon County, reunited with mother

HIGH BRIDGE BOROUGH, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Emergency crews rescued a stranded fawn from the South Branch of the Raritan River on Thursday morning, reuniting the animal with its mother after a brief water rescue.

The High Bridge Fire Department, Annandale Hose Company, and South Branch Emergency Services, Inc. responded to Jericho Road after being alerted to a small animal rescue.

Upon arrival, responders found a fawn stranded in a shallow portion of the river. Crews acted quickly to safely remove the animal from the water.

The fawn was uninjured and, once back on dry land, was reunited with its mother. The two were last seen prancing away from the scene, authorities said.
