
FDA: Ventura Foods recalls salad dressings over possible plastic contamination
Ventura Foods LLC has recalled 3,556 cases of salad dressings and dips after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said the products may contain foreign objects, identified as black plastic planting material.
The FDA said the issue is linked to granulated onion used in the products. The recall is classified as Class II, meaning exposure to the products may cause temporary or medically reversible health consequences, or that the probability of serious adverse health effects is remote.
The voluntary, firm-initiated recall began Nov. 6, 2025, and remains ongoing. The FDA assigned the recall number H-0235-2026 and event ID 97955, with a center classification date of Dec. 4, 2025.
The recalled products are bulk, food-service items and include the following:
- Italian Salad Dressing; Net 1 GAL (3.78L), SKU: 7 67367 00518 4
- Creamy Poblano Avocado Ranch Dressing and Dip; Net Contents 1 GAL (3.78L), SKU: 7 34730 53243 1
- Ventura Caesar Dressing; Net WT 2000 LB (907.1 kg), SKU: 00 026700 17360 8
- Pepper Mill Regal Caesar Dressing; 1 GAL (128 FL OZ / 3.79 L), SKU: 0 93901 72607 0
- Pepper Mill Creamy Caesar Dressing; 1 GAL (128 FL OZ / 3.79 L), SKU: 0 93901 78134 5
- Caesar Dressing (Costco Service Deli); Net WT 23.62 LB (10.71 kg), SKU: 0 26700 19376 7
- Caesar Dressing (Costco Food Court); Net WT 32 LB (14.51 kg), SKU: 0 26700 19376 7
- Hidden Valley Buttermilk Ranch; Net 1 GAL (3.79L), SKU: 0 26700 19192 3
According to the FDA, the following lot codes are included in the recall:
- Monarch: B29525
- Sysco: MFG101625H
- Ventura: P27525
- Pepper Mill Regal: H29025
- Pepper Mill Creamy: H29025
- Costco Service Deli: B28025; B28125; B28225; B29025; B29125; B29225
- Costco Food Court: 03/04/2026
- Hidden Valley: MFG102725H
The FDA said the products were distributed to seven retail customers across 42 locations in the following states: Kentucky, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Virginia, Missouri, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Washington, Colorado, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, Texas, Ohio, North Dakota and Oregon. One customer in Costa Rica also received the products.
Ventura Foods LLC, based in Irvine, California, is listed as the recalling firm. The FDA said no press release was issued in connection with the recall.
Consumers and food-service operators are advised not to use the affected products and to follow instructions from distributors or the manufacturer regarding return or disposal.
