Fire destroys Sussex County home; no injuries reported

FRANKLIN BOROUGH, N.J. (Sussex County) — A fire early Wednesday morning destroyed a home at 139 Main Street in Franklin Borough, but all residents escaped safely and no injuries were reported, according to Sgt. Robert Vander Ploeg.

The blaze broke out shortly before 4 a.m. and drew assistance from the Franklin Fire Department as well as multiple departments from surrounding towns. Despite firefighters’ efforts, the structure was deemed unsalvageable.

Vander Ploeg said none of the neighboring homes were affected, and no residents or first responders were injured.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Franklin Borough Detective Bureau is being assisted by the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Sussex County Fire Marshal.
