Firefighters extinguish commercial oven fire in Warren County

ALPHA BOROUGH, NJ (Warren County) – Firefighters extinguished a fire in a commercial oven at an Alpha Borough facility early Thursday morning.

On Thursday, Nov. 21, at around 5:06 a.m., the Alpha Volunteer Fire Company responded to a commercial oven fire at a business located on Industrial Drive.

Upon arrival, fire crews observed heavy smoke emanating from the building and immediately requested the first alarm assignment for additional support.

The crew laid a line from a nearby hydrant, stretching a 300-foot hand line to the source of the fire, and extinguished the flames, which had been confined to a 10′ by 20′ walk-in heavy-duty metal oven used for manufacturing purposes.

Fire crews went to the roof to check for any fire extension, and additional mutual aid fire departments assisted with overhaul, ventilation, and other tasks.

“A good initial knock from Ladder 82 held the fire from being a serious incident,” the fire department said.

The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately clear.
