Firefighters extinguish overnight structure fire in Byram Township; no injuries reported

BYRAM TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sussex County) — Firefighters from Byram Township and neighboring communities extinguished a structure fire late Sunday night in the Tamarack Road section of the township, authorities said.

The Byram Township Fire Department said crews were dispatched at about 11:50 p.m. to a report of an activated fire alarm. Upon arrival, Byram Township police confirmed an active fire on the third floor of the building.

The fire chief arrived on scene and upgraded the call to a working structure fire, requesting mutual aid from surrounding departments to assist with operations, officials said.

Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control, checked for fire extension and conducted overhaul of the affected areas. The incident was declared under control, and crews cleared the scene at about 1:30 a.m.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Fire Official’s Office. Fire officials thanked assisting mutual aid departments for their prompt response and support.
