LAMBERTVILLE, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire at a Lambertville home Thursday evening, according to the City of Lambertville Fire District No. 1.
Fire crews were dispatched at 7:08 p.m. to a Buttonwood address after receiving reports of smoke and flames coming from a third-floor window.
The first arriving firefighters advanced a hoseline to the third floor and began extinguishing the fire while establishing a water supply from a nearby hydrant.
Additional crews assisted by protecting the residents’ belongings with tarps and checking the adjoining residence for fire extension. Officials said firefighters found smoke in the neighboring home but no fire had spread.
The fire was brought under control within minutes. Both homes were ventilated before crews cleared the scene.
Firefighters underwent rehabilitation at the scene before returning to service.
The fire remains under investigation by the City of Lambertville Fire District Fire Marshal’s Office and the Lambertville Police Department.
Fire officials credited the rapid response and aggressive interior attack by firefighters with preventing the fire from spreading and bringing it under control quickly.
