
Police use CED to disarm man who confronted officers with knife in Warren County
WASHINGTON BOROUGH, N.J. (Warren County) — A 60-year-old Washington Borough man was arrested after allegedly confronting police officers with a knife and refusing repeated commands to drop the weapon, according to Washington Township police.
Officers responded at approximately 6:57 p.m. July 28 to a residence in the 100 block of West Washington Avenue in Washington Borough following a report of a person screaming and yelling inside the home.
Police said officers made contact with the man, who was uncooperative. While officers were speaking with him, he allegedly confronted them with a knife and refused several commands to drop it.
An officer deployed a conducted energy device, or CED, allowing police to disarm the man and take him into custody, according to police.
After receiving medical attention, the man, whose name was not released, was charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, terroristic threats and disorderly conduct.
He was lodged in the Warren County Jail pending court proceedings.
