Former elementary school teacher sexually assaulted child in Warren County

PHILLIPSBURG, NJ (Warren County) – A former elementary school teacher is accused of sexually assaulting a child in Phillipsburg, according to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.

It is alleged that on various dates between 1998 and 1999, Kenneth Lutz, 52, of Phillipsburg, sexually assaulted a child. He allegedly engaged the victim in acts of sexual penetration and contact while the victim who was between 12 and 13-years-old, authorities said.

At the time of the alleged sexual assaults, Lutz was a teacher at the victim’s elementary school and a family friend. Due to his relationship with the family, he was responsible for driving the victim to and from school, the prosecutor’s office said.

Lutz was charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, and second-degree sexual assault by contact. He remains lodged in the Warren County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.

Lutz has been employed by the Lopatcong Township Elementary School, Merriam Avenue Elementary School in Newton, and Beloved Community Charter School in Jersey City. He has also been employed as a teacher at the New Smyrna Beach High School in New Smyrna and Blue Lake Elementary School in DeLand, which are both located in Florida, authorities said.
