Former Petco manager charged with stealing nearly $10,000 from Somerset County store, police say

RARITAN BOROUGH, N.J. (Somerset County) — A former Petco general manager has been charged with theft after allegedly stealing nearly $10,000 in business deposits from the store where he worked, according to Raritan Borough police.

Police said Lamount Curry, 54, of Union, was charged on Sept. 29 following an investigation by the department’s Criminal Investigation Division into incidents that began in May 2025.

Investigators determined that while serving as general manager at the Petco in Raritan, Curry allegedly stole $9,773.88 in deposits he was responsible for making on behalf of the business, authorities said.

A court appearance is pending, police said.
