Free parenting workshops offered by Project Self-Sufficiency in Newton

NEWTON, N.J. (Sussex County) — Parents, caregivers, and educators seeking support with common parenting challenges are invited to attend a series of free workshops and discussion groups hosted by Project Self-Sufficiency this summer.

The sessions, offered both in-person and online, will utilize the Triple P Positive Parenting Program to help participants build strong, healthy relationships with children, manage behavior, and reduce stress in the home. A range of course options is available to accommodate varying schedules and needs.

“These programs will give parents, caregivers, and educators simple and practical strategies to help build strong, healthy relationships, confidently manage children’s behavior, and reduce stress,” said Deborah Berry-Toon, executive director of Project Self-Sufficiency.

The Positive Parenting Course will be offered at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at Project Self-Sufficiency and simultaneously via Zoom on the following dates: July 10, 25, 31; August 7, 14, 21, 28; and September 2, 9, 16, and 23. Pizza and childcare will be provided for those attending in person.

Topics include positive parenting techniques, child development, behavior management, and planning ahead. Individualized coaching is also available by appointment for those seeking personalized guidance. Additionally, online and on-demand options are available for participants unable to attend the scheduled sessions.
