WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Federal Trade Commission announced Wednesday new fees that telemarketers will pay to access phone numbers on the National Do Not Call Registry during fiscal year 2027.
The new fees will take effect Oct. 1, the start of fiscal year 2027.
Telemarketers calling consumers in the United States are required to download numbers on the National Do Not Call Registry to help ensure they do not call consumers who have registered their phone numbers. Telemarketers must subscribe annually for access to numbers in the registry.
The first five area codes are available to download for free. Exempt organizations, including some charities and political callers, may obtain the entire list at no charge, according to the FTC.
The cost to access a single area code will increase to $85 in fiscal year 2027, up $3 from $82 in fiscal year 2026.
The maximum fee charged to a single entity for access to all area codes nationwide will increase to $23,425, compared with $22,626 in fiscal year 2026.
The fee to access an additional area code for half of the year will increase from $41 to $43.
The FTC voted 2-0 to authorize publication of the Federal Register notice announcing the new fees.
