Gas pipeline replacement project to begin Oct. 27 in Hackettstown neighborhood

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) — Elizabethtown Gas will begin a pipeline replacement and upgrade project in a section of Hackettstown on or about Monday, Oct. 27, 2025, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance safety and reliability across northern New Jersey, town officials announced.

The project will take place in residential areas, affecting Carter Terrace, College View Drive, Deerfield Drive, Ferris Place, Kenneth Lane, Mountain View Drive, Nancy Lane, Pleasant View Road, and Seymour Road.

The work will include replacing aging natural gas mains with new, durable plastic pipes, moving gas meters from inside homes to the outside, and replacing service lines connecting each property to the main in the street.

Construction will occur Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to approximately 3:30 or 4 p.m. While road closures will be necessary at times, access for local traffic, school buses, and essential services will be maintained as needed.

Final restoration of affected streets and properties is expected to take place after the 2025–26 school year and before Aug. 21, 2026.

“Elizabethtown Gas is improving our natural gas pipeline system that provides safe, reliable, affordable natural gas to more than 300,000 customers across northern New Jersey,” the company said.

Residents with questions or concerns can contact the project hotline at 866-767-5558 or email etgprojects@sjindustries.com. More information is available at elizabethtowngas.com/neighborhood.
