Newton’s Little Sprouts Early Learning Center earns four-star rating from Grow NJ Kids, enrollment open for preschool

NEWTON, N.J. (Sussex County) — The Little Sprouts Early Learning Center in Newton is now enrolling students ages 3 and 4 for preschool, along with offering daycare, before- and after-school care, and summer programs.

Located on the campus of Project Self-Sufficiency at 127 Mill Street, across from Sussex County Community College, Little Sprouts is inviting interested parents to schedule a tour by calling 973-940-3540 or completing a form at www.littlesproutsearlylearningcenter.org.

The center recently earned a four-star rating from Grow NJ Kids, the state-sponsored initiative aimed at raising the quality of child care and early learning in New Jersey. The evaluation process includes a review of documentation, classroom environment, in-person observations, teaching strategies, health and safety guidelines, and community outreach efforts. Participating centers are assessed every three years, with ongoing in-class support available between evaluations.

Little Sprouts offers separate classrooms for each age group, from infancy through preschool, using the Creative Curriculum endorsed by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Fully qualified teachers meet or exceed state child-teacher ratio standards.

The program is enriched by an on-site vegetable garden, visits from Master Gardeners, and guest readers, along with new classroom equipment, indoor and outdoor play areas, and learning centers for science, literacy, arts, dramatic play, and more.

The facility can accommodate up to 83 children ages 6 weeks to 6 years and accepts all types of subsidized daycare, including New Jersey Cares for Kids and Work First New Jersey.
