Gottheimer highlights affordability, health care and retirement security during telephone town hall
WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer, D-N.J. 5th District, hosted a telephone town hall Wednesday night with thousands of North Jersey residents to discuss health care costs, taxes, utility bills, Social Security, Medicare and other affordability issues.
According to Gottheimer’s office, the July 22 event focused on his bipartisan efforts to lower health care and prescription drug costs, protect Social Security and Medicare, reduce taxes, lower utility bills, support law enforcement and first responders, and return more federal tax dollars to New Jersey residents and businesses.
During the town hall, Gottheimer answered questions from constituents on a range of topics, including prescription drug pricing, rising utility costs and retirement security.
His office said Gottheimer highlighted his efforts to cap prescription drug costs, crack down on pharmacy benefit manager middlemen and lower health care expenses. He also reiterated his commitment to protecting Social Security and Medicare benefits for current retirees while strengthening the programs for future generations.
“This Telephone Town Hall gave me the chance to speak directly with residents about the issues that matter most to North Jersey families,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “I’m focused on cutting taxes and lowering costs to keep more money in your pockets. I will keep fighting to combat rising utility bills, bring down your taxes, support our first responders, and ensure that hard-working Jersey families have access to affordable health care and childcare.”
Joining Gottheimer for the event were Pete Andreyev, president of the New Jersey State Policemen’s Benevolent Association; Bergen County Commissioner Chairman Steve Tanelli; Park Ridge Mayor Keith Misciagna; Fort Lee Councilman Paul Yoon; and the Rev. Peter Wang of Grace Redeemer Church in Glen Rock.
