Gottheimer, Miller host Capitol roundtable with hostage families, call for return of Americans held by Hamas
WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Reps. Josh Gottheimer, D-N.J., and Max Miller, R-Ohio, this week hosted a roundtable at the Capitol with a released hostage and relatives of Americans held captive by Hamas since Oct. 7, 2023.
The event marked the 705th day of captivity for the hostages in Gaza. Family members and advocates pressed for the release of all those still held, including the remains of the last two Americans.
“For more than 700 days, these families have endured unimaginable pain as their loved ones remain in the hands of Hamas terrorists. Two American families are still waiting to bring their loved ones’ bodies home to be laid to rest. Our commitment to the hostages and their families must be clear: we never leave anyone behind,” Gottheimer said. “As a member of the House Intelligence Committee, I will not stop fighting until every hostage is returned — including the bodies of the two remaining Americans — and we crush Hamas.”
Guests included Raz Ben Ami, a released hostage; Ilay David, the brother of hostage Evyatar David; and Daniel Neutra, the brother of deceased hostage Omer Neutra. Representatives from the Hostage Family Forum and the American Jewish Committee also attended.
In addition to Gottheimer and Miller, lawmakers present included Reps. Morgan Luttrell, R-Texas; Laura Gillen, D-N.Y.; Maggie Goodlander, D-N.H.; and Steve Cohen, D-Tenn.
