Hackettstown announces new emergency alert system — here’s how to sign up
HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – Hackettstown has announced the launch of the CivicReady Mass Notification System, a new service designed to keep residents informed in times of emergency and everyday updates.
Starting January 1, 2025, the CivicReady system will replace the current Everbridge/Nixle platform.
CivicReady is a free, user-friendly service that enables Hackettstown officials to send important notifications, including weather updates, traffic alerts, and emergency or non-emergency communications, directly to residents’ mobile phones, email inboxes, and voicemails. By using this system, local authorities will be able to deliver timely alerts, instructions, and routine messages, ensuring the community stays informed and safe.
“In times of emergency or uncertainty, it’s essential for our residents and visitors to have immediate access to accurate and timely information,” said Hackettstown Public Information Officer Darren Tynan. “The CivicReady system will empower us to communicate more effectively and keep everyone informed, whether it’s about severe weather, traffic incidents, or community updates. We encourage all residents to sign up to ensure they receive these critical notifications.”
CivicPlus, the company behind the CivicReady system, is known for designing innovative solutions for local governments.
Cari Tate, CivicPlus Solutions Director, expressed the company’s pride in partnering with Hackettstown: “We continually invest in our products, such as our Mass Notification software, to strengthen and transform how governments serve and communicate with their residents. We are proud to partner with Hackettstown to help them accomplish their public safety goals.”
The CivicReady system will provide instant alerts during emergencies, giving residents the information and instructions they need to stay safe.
To ensure continuous access to alerts, residents who were previously enrolled in the Everbridge/Nixle system must re-enroll in CivicReady.
Signing up for the new service is quick and easy. Residents can visit https://portal.civicplus.com/NJ-Hackettstown/notifications to register for notifications. Those who prefer SMS text messages can text 07840 to 38276 to subscribe. Additionally, the CivicReady mobile app is available for download on both Google Play and the App Store.
Hackettstown encourages all residents and visitors to take advantage of this important service to stay connected and informed.
