Hackettstown dedicates Grand Avenue and Washington Street as “Thorp’s Corner” in memory of Thomas K. Thorp

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) — The Town of Hackettstown honored the legacy of Thomas K. “Tom” Thorp on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, with the dedication of “Thorp’s Corner” at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Washington Street, where Thorp practiced law for a quarter century.

Mayor Jerry DiMaio and Councilman Scott Sheldon unveiled the new street sign during a ceremony attended by former Mayor Michael Lavery, Ginny Thorp (Tom’s wife), family members, friends, and community residents who gathered to celebrate Thorp’s enduring contributions to Hackettstown.

Thorp, who passed away on July 8, 2025, at the age of 65, was a respected attorney who continued the legacy of the law firm founded by his father, Albert Thorp, at the same location.

Over his career, Thorp served as Municipal Attorney for the Town of Hackettstown, offering legal guidance on several key initiatives, including the creation of Riverfront Park along the Musconetcong River.

He concluded his distinguished career in public service as Deputy Surrogate for Warren County, a position he held from 2012 to 2024.
