Hackettstown Police warn of scammers posing as officers

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – The Hackettstown Police Department has issued a warning to the community regarding a recent scam in which individuals are posing as police officers.

Scammers have been calling residents from the department’s business line (908-852-3302) and non-emergency line (908-852-3300), falsely claiming to represent the Hackettstown Police.

According to police, the callers inform victims that they are under investigation for fraud and then attempt to solicit confidential information, including bank account details.

Hackettstown Police emphasize the importance of protecting personal information. “Please remember to NEVER give out your information over the phone,” police said. “The Hackettstown Police will never call you and ask for confidential information.”
