Hackettstown road closures, delays expected for services for wife of retired NJSP Superintendent Pat Callahan

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) — Traffic delays and road closures are expected in Hackettstown on Thursday and Friday as the town prepares for memorial services honoring Linda Claire Callahan, the wife of retired New Jersey State Police Superintendent Pat Callahan, municipal officials said.

On Thursday, Jan. 15, motorists should expect delays along Route 517 (High Street) near Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High St., between 3 p.m. and approximately 8 p.m. A memorial visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Town officials said overflow parking will be available at the north end parking lot of Mars Wrigley, and crossing guards will be stationed in the area to assist pedestrians crossing High Street.

On Friday, Jan. 16, Route 46 (Main Street) will be closed to all vehicular traffic between Warren Street and Liberty Street from 9 a.m. to approximately 1 p.m. Side streets leading into that section of Main Street will also be closed during that time.

A Christian funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 213 Main St.

Parking will be prohibited along Main Street between Warren and Liberty streets from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sidewalks will remain open to pedestrians, allowing access to residences and businesses, but no vehicle traffic will be permitted in the closed area.

To accommodate visitors, the Hackettstown Parking Authority will allow free parking at all metered spaces and in all municipal parking lots throughout the town on Friday, Jan. 16.

Town officials urged motorists to plan ahead, use alternate routes when possible and thanked residents and businesses for their patience and cooperation during the services.
