Hackettstown woman charged with underage DWI in Morris County

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A 20-year-old woman from Hackettstown was arrested early Friday and charged with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop on Route 46, Washington Township police said.

At approximately 12:42 a.m. on May 23, an officer observed a vehicle traveling west on Route 46 using the shoulder of the road. The officer initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver.

During the stop, the officer observed signs of impairment. After conducting field sobriety tests, it was determined that the woman was operating the vehicle while intoxicated.

The driver, whose name was not released, was arrested and transported to police headquarters. She was charged with underage operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant. She was also issued multiple motor vehicle summonses.

She was released to a responsible person pending a court appearance.
