HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – The streets of Hackettstown were packed with excited spectators for the 16th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday.

This beloved Irish-American tradition attracted thousands of visitors, making it one of the most anticipated events of the year in Hackettstown. This year’s parade was led by the grand marshal, Mrs. Mary Litwhiler, a beloved member of the community.

The parade kicked off at 3:30 p.m., with a vibrant procession featuring a wide range of participants, including Irish dance groups, traditional Irish bands, bagpipes and drums, and local community groups. Also taking part were teams from Centenary University and Hackettstown High School, surrounding fire departments, rescue squads, and hometown favorites like the Junior and Senior Colonial Musketeers and the Hackettstown Community Band.

The parade followed a route along Main Street, stretching from Grand Avenue to Warren Street. The event provided a lively celebration of Irish heritage, with attendees lining the streets to cheer on the colorful floats and marching groups.

This year, organizers introduced a new feature: a Quiet Sensory Zone. This special area was designated for individuals sensitive to loud noise and was clearly marked by bright colored lawn signs. The zone was located between West Plane Street and Center Street.

The event also featured a pet-friendly twist, with a special Irish Costume Contest for pets, sponsored by Doggie Styleash. Judging took place at Czig Meister Brewing at 3:30 pm sharp, with pets then invited to join the parade, bringing extra joy to the festivities.

With its blend of tradition, community spirit, and new accommodations, the 16th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Hackettstown was a memorable celebration for all ages.
