Heath Village celebrates Arbor Day with tree planting and community tradition
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – Celebrating Arbor Day has been a time-honored tradition at Heath Village since 1974.
Over the past 50-plus years, Heath Village has recognized this important day by planting nearly 60 trees across its more than 100-acre campus.
Adding to the annual celebration, students from the Friendship Center – the intergenerational child care center located on the Heath Village campus – join in the festivities. Each year, the students enjoy learning about the importance of trees and helping plant a new one.
This year, with perfect weather for the occasion, both residents and students had a fantastic time planting this year’s selection – a Hardy Rubber Tree (Eucommia ulmoides).
