HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — The Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners recognized the Holland Township Free Public Library on the occasion of its 60th anniversary during the board’s meeting Dec. 16.

Founded six decades ago, the library has served as a hub for learning, access and community connection for residents of Holland Township and the surrounding area. As the westernmost library in Hunterdon County, it plays a key role in providing residents with access to the resources and services of the county library system.

Commissioner Zach Rich, the board’s liaison to the Library Commission, praised the library’s long-standing impact on the community.

“For 60 years, the Holland Township Free Library has fostered learning, supported community engagement, and provided reliable public service. Its staff, volunteers, and patrons have built a legacy that benefits both Holland Township and Hunterdon County. We are proud to recognize this milestone and grateful for the library’s enduring contributions,” Rich said.

County officials noted that the library consistently ranks second among affiliate libraries in Hunterdon County, reflecting strong patron engagement, high-quality service and connections with readers of all ages.

The library’s success has been supported by its leadership, including Board President Laura Tessieri, Vice President Jean Hewens and Treasurer Gwen Ayers, whose stewardship has helped guide the library’s mission and growth over the years.
