Hopatcong Water Department implements immediate water restrictions
HOPATCONG BOROUGH, NJ (Sussex County) – The Hopatcong Water Department has announced immediate water restrictions for the entire municipal water system due to high water demand caused by suspected leaks in the water main or service lines.
To address the situation, the Borough has engaged a specialized leak detection contractor to help identify the source of the excessive water usage.
Effective immediately, all outdoor water use is prohibited. This includes activities such as watering lawns, washing cars or other vehicles, and cleaning outdoor spaces and gutters. Residents are also urged to conserve indoor water use as much as possible.
These restrictions will remain in place until further notice as the Borough works to resolve the issue. The Hopatcong Water Department appreciates residents’ patience and cooperation during this time.
For questions regarding the water restrictions, residents can contact Pat Mason, DPW Superintendent, at 973-770-1200 ext. 402 or via email at pmason@hopatcong.org. Additionally, inquiries can be directed to the non-emergency phone number at 973-398-5000.
