Hunterdon County awards $10K grant to East Amwell for website upgrade

EAST AMWELL TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — The Hunterdon County Commissioners have approved a $10,000 economic development grant to help East Amwell Township modernize its municipal website.

The funding, authorized at the board’s Sept. 2 meeting through Resolution 2025-778, comes from the Hunterdon County Economic Development Grant Program, which supports municipalities and nonprofit business associations in advancing local economic development projects.

A key focus of the program has been upgrading digital infrastructure, particularly enhancing municipal websites to make them more accessible and effective for residents and businesses.

“East Amwell’s plan to modernize its website will significantly improve how residents, businesses, and visitors interact with the township. A mobile-friendly, user-focused platform is essential infrastructure in today’s economy, and we are happy to support this important step forward,” said Commissioner Director John E. Lanza.

Township officials said the overhaul will address accessibility issues on smartphones and tablets and improve navigation. Planned upgrades include mobile-friendly features, online payment options for township services, and easier access to civic information, local events, and tourism resources.

East Amwell estimates the project will cost $34,000, with the county grant offsetting part of the expense. The new website, to be developed by Civic Plus, will include ADA compliance upgrades and e-commerce functionality to better serve both residents and the township’s tourism economy.

“The recent grant award to East Amwell Township is another example of the County Commissioner Board’s ‘New Era of Partnership’ with our municipal partners, as we aim to keep Hunterdon County one of the safest, healthiest, and best places to raise a family.”
