Hunterdon County Chief of Detectives Timothy Drew retires after distinguished law enforcement career
FLEMINGTON, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — The Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office honored Chief of Detectives Timothy Drew on Wednesday as he retired following a distinguished career in law enforcement and public service.
Drew led the Prosecutor’s Office as chief of detectives after a career with the Lawrence Township Police Department, where he served as a lieutenant and acting chief of police.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, Drew played a key role in several major initiatives during his tenure, including establishing Hunterdon County’s ARRIVE Together program and helping the office achieve law enforcement accreditation through the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police.
Prosecutor’s Office officials said Drew’s leadership, professionalism and commitment to public safety strengthened the agency and left a lasting impact on detectives, prosecutors and professional staff.
Following Drew’s retirement, Capt. Paul Approvato will serve as acting chief of detectives while the Prosecutor’s Office selects its next chief of detectives.
“As Chief Drew begins his next chapter, we extend our sincere gratitude for his many years of service and wish him continued health, happiness, and success in all that lies ahead,” the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office said. “Please join us in congratulating Chief Drew on his well-earned retirement.”
The Prosecutor’s Office concluded its tribute by thanking Drew “for your exceptional service to Hunterdon County,” adding, “You have made a lasting difference.”
