Hunterdon County Clerk provides election update during Commissioner Board meeting

HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJHunterdon County Clerk Mary Melfi recently provided a detailed update about the upcoming election, including a timeline and deadline dates, to the Commissioner Board.

The most critical information is that the annual school and General Election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5, and the deadline to register to vote is Oct. 15.

Commissioner John Lanza, who also serves as the liaison to the Board of Elections, said, “We appreciate County Clerk Mary Melfi and her staff for their ongoing collaboration with the Board of Elections to ensure the integrity and smooth running of elections within the county. It is important for voters to remember that if they have questions, they can contact the Clerk’s office or the Board of Elections for answers. We want voters to be as well-informed as possible. When we say voting in Hunterdon County is safe, secure, and well-organized, it is thanks to the work of all the County personnel working together to make it happen.”

Listed below are the upcoming important dates for the General Election:

  • Voter Registration Deadline: October 15, 2024
  • Early Voting: Begins Saturday, October 26th, at three locations, running Monday to Saturday from 10 AM to 8 PM, and Sunday from 10 AM to 6 PM.
  • Election Day: Tuesday, November 5th, with polls open from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Residents can find their polling locations listed on the front of their Official Election Sample Ballot, which is mailed out to actively registered voters prior to each election.
