Hunterdon County Commissioner Soloway participates in ‘Read Across America’ celebrations
HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – Hunterdon County Commissioner Susan Soloway joined local preschoolers in celebrating Read Across America by sharing her love of reading and promoting the importance of literacy.
“Read Across America is always a highlight of the year,” said Commissioner Soloway. “It’s a privilege to visit local schools and connect with our youngest community members to encourage a love of reading. Literacy is the cornerstone of education, and events like this help foster a lifelong passion for learning.”
On Wednesday, March 5, Commissioner Soloway visited Norwescap Head Start Preschool in Ringoes, where she captivated young students by reading two classic Dr. Seuss books, filled with rhymes and colorful illustrations.
Later in the week, on Friday, March 7, Commissioner Soloway visited Ms. Stryker’s preschool class at Franklin Township Public School. She emphasized the value of early literacy and the joy of discovering new worlds through books by reading Giraffes Can’t Dance by Giles Andreae.
Read Across America is a nationwide initiative celebrated annually in March. Organized by the National Education Association, the program promotes reading and inspires communities to come together and create memorable reading experiences.
“Read Across America is a wonderful initiative that brings the magic of reading to people of all ages,” Soloway said. “I enjoy being a part of this celebration and seeing the excitement in young readers’ eyes as they explore new stories and ideas.”
Commissioner Soloway expressed her gratitude to the educators and staff at Norwescap Head Start Preschool and Franklin Township Public School for welcoming her and allowing her to participate in the Read Across America initiative.
