Hunterdon County Commissioner Van Doren attends grand opening of Quinn’s Corner at Tabby’s Place

EAST AMWELL TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – Hunterdon County Commissioner Shaun Van Doren on Oct. 7 attended the ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the grand opening of Quinn’s Corner at Tabby’s Place in East Amwell Township.

The event featured a self-guided tour of the expanded building, a meet the cats’session, refreshments, Artisan pet products and fun activities for kids. More than 500 people were in attendance for the festivities that took place from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Tabby’s Place is a cat sanctuary for cats with Feline Leukemia (FeLV), and through a generous donation from “Quinn’s” owner and many others, an expansion of Tabby’s Place was possible, increasing existing space from 7,000 to 12,000 square feet. The new “Quinn’s Corner” is much needed space allowing for cats with FeLV to have a haven to enjoy life.

FeLV is a highly transmittable virus through casual contact between cats, such as sharing food bowls and grooming. FeLV cats cannot be safely housed with other felines, so separated space for recovery is important. FeLV is not contagious to humans, and this expanded space will allow for proper care for the most valuable members of the feline family.

“Thanks to generous donors and a caring staff, Tabby’s Place is able to continue to serve the community and rescue cats from hopeless situations. The addition of Quinn’s Corner will only serve to enhance the care provided to these feline friends, especially those with FeLV that cannot be easily adopted,” Van Doren said.

Tabby’s Place is open to the public 7 days a week from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. For more information, visit www.tabbysplace.org or email info@tabbysplace.org.
