Hunterdon County Commissioner Soloway visits with students as part of Career Day event at Valley View Elementary School
LEBANON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – Hunterdon County Deputy Director Susan Soloway recently attended the Career Day event at Valley View Elementary School, in Lebanon Township.
The event took place from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and was focused on helping students, Pre-kindergarten through 4th grade, gain career awareness and explore different career possibilities.
“This Career Day event is a wonderful opportunity to inspire young students and provide insight into various professions. Events like this contribute positively to the students’ understanding of the world beyond the classroom and enhance their learning experience,” Soloway said.
Among some of the 25 professionals in attendance were Lebanon Township Mayor, Beverly Koehler, as well as representatives from real estate agencies, police departments, a dog walking business, camera and video professionals, health and nutritionist specialists, and a local fire department.
The students visited the event in 25-minute time slots allocated for each class, and had the opportunity to visit the tables and interact with the volunteers to ask a variety of prepared questions, such as “What is a typical day like for you” and “What type of training did you complete?”
There were approximately 280 elementary students in attendance for the Career Day event, that was organized by Valley View School Counselor, Jennifer Parkhurst.
