Hunterdon County delivers donations to support women veterans, new mothers
HUNTERDON COUNTY, N.J. — In a continued show of support and gratitude for women veterans and their families, Hunterdon County Commissioner Susan J. Soloway delivered a collection of baby items and gift cards to the Lyons Veterans Campus on Monday, Sept. 8, as part of the third annual Women Veterans’ Baby Shower Collection.
The donation included diapers in all sizes, baby wipes and gift cards to major retailers. Contributions came from county employees, community members and the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office.
Soloway, who serves as co-liaison for Veterans Affairs and is an advocate for veterans and women’s issues, said she was grateful for the county-wide support of the growing initiative.
“These donations are more than just essential items for new mothers, they are a gesture of respect, gratitude, and care for those who have served our country,” Soloway said. “I am proud that Hunterdon County continues to support these brave women in such a meaningful way.”
Now in its third year, the Women Veterans’ Baby Shower Collection reflects the county board’s ongoing commitment to honoring the service and sacrifice of veterans and their families. The effort is coordinated through the Commissioner’s Office in support of the New Jersey Healthcare System of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The drive began in early August and ran through Sept. 5, with collection boxes placed in designated buildings throughout the county.
