Hunterdon County honors Senior Center volunteers at annual appreciation brunch

KINGWOOD TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Hunterdon County officials recently recognized volunteers who contribute their time to Senior Center programs during the annual Senior Center Volunteer Appreciation Brunch.

Hunterdon County Commissioner Susan J. Soloway and County Clerk Mary Melfi joined volunteers at Razberry’s Banquet Venue in Frenchtown for the event, hosted by the Hunterdon County Department of Human Services.

The annual gathering recognizes volunteers who provide their time and talents throughout the year to support Hunterdon County Senior Center programs and the older adults they serve.

“Our Senior Center volunteers give so much of their time and energy to help others, and their contributions make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults throughout Hunterdon County,” said Commissioner Soloway. “We are grateful for the compassion, generosity, and care they bring to our community. Thank you for all that you do throughout the year.”

Senior Center volunteers assist with transportation, the Mr. Fix-It program, art and recreational activities, SHIP/Medicare counseling, fitness and physical activity programs and day-to-day activities at the county’s Senior Centers.

Collectively, volunteers provide more than 1,000 hours of service each quarter, according to the county. Their work helps older adults remain connected to their communities, access services, participate in social and recreational activities and maintain greater independence.

County Clerk Mary Melfi also thanked the volunteers for their service.

“Volunteers are an important part of what makes our community so special. The time they give, the relationships they build, and the kindness they show to our seniors have a lasting impact. It is wonderful to have an opportunity to come together and recognize the many ways these volunteers support our older residents.”

The brunch gave Human Services staff and county officials an opportunity to personally thank volunteers for their work supporting Senior Center programs throughout Hunterdon County.
