Hunterdon County honors two Eagle Scouts for service and leadership
FLEMINGTON, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — The Hunterdon County Commissioners on Aug. 5 recognized Carter Gordon and Lucas Beyers of Scouts of America Troop 187 for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest honor in Scouting.
“Achieving the rank of Eagle Scout is a significant milestone,” Commissioner Director John E. Lanza said. “Both of these young men have shown exceptional commitment to community service through accomplishments that reflect the highest ideals of Scouting. They are inspiring examples to their peers and the community, and we wish them all the best in their future endeavors.”
Gordon, a 2025 graduate of Delaware Valley Regional High School, earned the honor by planning and developing a drop-box collection site and informational kiosk to facilitate the respectful disposal of worn American flags. A four-year football player, three-year baseball player, and two-year basketball player, he also served as a summer camp counselor for three years and participated in the Best Buddies Club. Gordon will attend SUNY Maritime College, where he will play collegiate football.
Beyers, also a 2025 Delaware Valley graduate, completed his Eagle Scout project by cleaning and restoring the United Church of Christ Cemetery in Milford, including cleaning veterans’ headstones, resetting monuments, and mapping the cemetery’s layout. An accomplished athlete, he wrestled for four years, played football and golf, and was active in the Glen Gardner Lutheran Youth Group, Jack’s Kids volunteer program, and the Best Buddies Club. He plans to attend the University of Rhode Island and join the wrestling club.
The commissioners congratulated both scouts for their leadership and dedication to the community.
