Hunterdon County honors Woolverton Inn for 10 years of ownership, hospitality

STOCKTON BOROUGH, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Hunterdon County officials recognized the Woolverton Inn for a decade of stewardship and hospitality during a recent county commissioners meeting.

Commissioner Director John E. Lanza presented a proclamation April 21 honoring the inn, located at 6 Woolverton Road in Stockton Borough, for 10 years of ownership and its continued contributions to the county’s tourism and local economy.

“The Woolverton Inn reflects both the history and spirit of Hunterdon County,” said Director Lanza. “Over the past ten years, its owners stewardship has honored the property’s roots while creating a destination that draws visitors to experience all our County has to offer.”

Originally dating to 1792, the Woolverton Inn began as a Revolutionary-era farmhouse and has since evolved into a country inn in the Delaware River Valley. Officials said it continues to attract visitors seeking a quiet retreat while maintaining its historic character.

Over the past decade, the inn has become a destination for weddings, anniversaries and weekend getaways, drawing guests from across the country. County officials said those visitors also support local farms, wineries, shops and restaurants, helping boost the regional economy.

Tourism remains an important part of Hunterdon County’s economy, and officials said destinations like the Woolverton Inn play a key role in showcasing the area’s natural beauty and historic charm.

The proclamation recognizes the inn’s contributions to the community’s cultural and economic vitality and marks a milestone reflecting both its history and future.

County commissioners extended their congratulations to the inn’s owners and staff for their continued commitment to preserving one of the county’s well-known destinations.
