Hunterdon County Library draws 1,600 to New Jersey Makers Day event

HUNTERDON COUNTY, N.J. — The Hunterdon County Library welcomed more than 1,600 attendees during its annual New Jersey Makers Day event held March 28 across multiple branches, county officials said.

The event featured a full day of hands-on activities focused on science, technology, art and design, bringing together residents of all ages for interactive learning and creative exploration.

“New Jersey Makers Day is a great example of how our County Library continues to bring people together in meaningful ways,” said Commissioner Zach Rich, liaison to the Hunterdon County Library. “Events like this give residents the opportunity to try something new, develop new skills, and connect with others in the community.”

Participants took part in a variety of activities, including sewing, painting, woodworking and jewelry-making, as well as demonstrations in robotics, 3D printing and other emerging technologies. The library’s Makerspace also provided visitors with an opportunity to explore specialized equipment and creative tools available to the public.

Community partners, including local organizations, artists, educators and student groups, contributed to the event by leading activities and sharing their expertise.

“New Jersey Makers Day is a reflection of what libraries are all about—bringing people together to explore, create, and learn from one another,” said Sandy Janosik, head of the Hunterdon County Headquarters Library Makerspace.

Officials said the event’s success was supported by library staff, exhibitors and more than 50 volunteers, along with contributions from the Friends of the Hunterdon County Library and a mini-grant from the New Jersey STEM Pathways Network.

The Hunterdon County Library continues to offer programs aimed at promoting learning, creativity and community engagement, officials said.
