N.J. to stock 4,500 rainbow trout in lakes, ponds next week, officials say

NEW JERSEY – New Jersey anglers will have fresh opportunities to reel in large rainbow trout next week as the state begins its annual winter stocking program, according to NJ Fish and Wildlife.

State wildlife officials said approximately 4,500 two-year-old rainbow trout — averaging 14 to 18 inches — will be stocked Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 24 and 25, in lakes and ponds across New Jersey. All waters included in the winter program may be fished immediately after stocking.

Stocking is scheduled as follows:

Monday, Nov. 24:

  • Amwell Lake
  • Furnace Lake
  • Green Turtle Pond
  • Lake Aeroflex
  • Lake Ocquittunk
  • Little Swartswood Lake
  • Silver Lake
  • Spring Lake
  • Topenemus Lake

Tuesday, Nov. 25:

  • Barbour’s Pond
  • Birch Grove Park Pond
  • Haddon Lake
  • Mt. Hope Pond
  • Ponderlodge Pond (Cox Hall WMA)
  • Rowands Pond
  • Shaws Mill Pond
  • South Vineland Park Pond
