Hunterdon County man charged in child sexual abuse material investigation
HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — A Holland Township man has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses following an investigation into child sexual abuse material, authorities said.
Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson said the arrest of Joshua Montagna, 29, was the result of an investigation by the county’s High Tech Crimes Unit that began with a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Authorities said the investigation determined Montagna had downloaded multiple videos and images depicting child sexual abuse material.
On April 24, detectives executed court-authorized search warrants at multiple locations. Montagna was taken into custody without incident, and his cellphone was seized.
A forensic examination of the device indicated Montagna had communicated with individuals he believed to be minors, sent nude images of himself and received images of child sexual abuse material, officials said.
Montagna is charged with one count of second-degree attempted endangering the welfare of a child, one count of attempted second-degree sexual assault of a child, one count of third-degree possession of child sexual abuse material, one count of attempted third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, one count of attempted third-degree sharing obscene material with a child and one count of attempted fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.
He is being held at the Warren County Jail pending a court appearance and detention hearing scheduled for May 13.
