Hunterdon County marks 40 years of community service by Three Bridges Library

READINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — The Hunterdon County Board of County Commissioners honored the Three Bridges Library on Nov. 18 in recognition of its 40 years of service to Readington Township and surrounding communities.

During the board’s meeting, Commissioner Director John E. Lanza presented a proclamation to library representatives, celebrating the milestone for an institution he described as central to the township’s civic life.

“For forty years, the Three Bridges Library has been a trusted place for learning, connection, and community,” Lanza said. “We are pleased to celebrate its long history of service and look forward to what it will continue to offer residents for generations to come.”

Located on Main Street in the village of Three Bridges, the library opened in 1985 and operates out of a historic 1928 building that has survived fires, industrial turnover and the passage of time. Today, it offers more than 14,000 items and serves patrons of all ages, including a dedicated children’s room and features that make the space accessible to seniors.

Under librarian Jeannie Vitale, the library has built a reputation for its welcoming, community-centered environment where many visitors are greeted by name. The library remains a hub for young readers, families and older adults, hosting programs and providing a familiar gathering place for neighbors.

The board’s proclamation highlighted the library’s longstanding impact and acknowledged the efforts of staff, volunteers and generations of patrons who have helped sustain and grow the library over four decades.
