Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office detectives participate in annual ‘Shop with a Cop’ event to build community bonds

FLEMINGTON, NJ (Hunterdon County) – Detectives from the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday took part in the Hunterdon PBA Local 188’s annual “Shop with a Cop” event, a heartwarming initiative aimed at fostering positive relationships between law enforcement officers and children, while also helping families in need.

The event kicked off with students being picked up from school and brought to Fred Beans Toyota of Flemington, where they enjoyed snacks and had the chance to meet Santa. Following the festivities, the children were escorted to Walmart in Flemington, where they had the opportunity to shop for their families.

Afterward, the group returned to Fred Beans Toyota, where the children wrapped presents and enjoyed pizza together. The event was made possible through the generous contributions of Fred Beans Toyota of Flemington, Walmart Flemington, and the Hunterdon PBA.

Shop with a Cop is an annual holiday tradition that pairs children with local law enforcement officers for a memorable shopping experience. What began over 30 years ago with a small group of officers collecting money to take one child shopping has now grown into a cherished program that helps thousands of kids every year.
