Hunterdon County Commissioners launch first in a series of shared service forums

“Part Of A New Era Of Partnership”

HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – The Hunterdon County Commissioner Board highlighted the success of the first-ever Municipalities Shared Services Forum held on Saturday, January 25.

The event was facilitated by Deputy Director Shaun C. Van Doren, and brought together mayors, governing body members and some municipal officials, to discuss and to learn about existing shared services opportunities offered by the county, and to explore new opportunities for shared services across municipalities.

“This Shared Services Forum was organized to provide a platform for meaningful dialogue and collaboration among municipality leaders. By sharing information, resources, and best practices, we can enhance the effectiveness of our municipal services, ultimately benefiting all residents of Hunterdon County,” Deputy Director Van Doren said.

The forum featured presentations from the following county department heads, Karen DeMarco for the Department of Health Services, Bob Thurgarland of Central Services, Ray Rule from the Purchasing Department and James Keehbler from Hunterdon County Library. Each presenter provided valuable insights and services offered by their departments, and outlined the various ways in which municipalities can work together to optimize resources and improve services.

Commissioner Van Doren emphasized the importance of such collaborative efforts, “The shared services initiatives discussed at this forum have to potential to create cost savings and increase the quality of services provided to our communities. I would like to thank the presenters and attendees for their active participation in today’s event. We appreciate the engagement and commitment of all our leaders that contribute to working towards ensuring Hunterdon County is a great place to live, work, and raise a family.”

Due to the success of this first Municipalities Shared Service event, the Board of Commissioners looks forward to continuing these discussions and will be hosting additional forums to review other areas of county government and follow up on issues raised by local leaders in attendance.
