Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office swears in new detective

FLEMINGTON, NJ (Hunterdon County) – The Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office (HCPO) has welcomed a new detective to its ranks.

Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson announced that Det. Timothy Althamer was sworn in on May 12, before Chief of Detectives Timothy J. Drew, family, and HCPO staff.

Prior to joining the Prosecutor’s Office, Detective Althamer served as a Patrol Officer with the Delaware Township Police Department, and as both a Sheriff’s Officer and Correctional Officer with the Hunterdon County Sheriff’s Office.

A U.S. Army veteran, Det. Althamer served in Operation Enduring Freedom as an Infantry Mortarman. He is a graduate of the Mercer County Police Academy and Raritan Valley Community College.

Born and raised in Northwest NJ, Jay has a degree in Communications and has had a life-long interest in local radio and various styles of music. Jay has held numerous jobs over the years such as stunt car driver, bartender, voice-over artist, traffic reporter (award winning), NY Yankee maintenance crewmember and peanut farm worker. His hobbies include mountain climbing, snowmobiling, cooking, performing stand-up comedy and he is an avid squirrel watcher. Jay has been a guest on America’s Morning Headquarters,program on The Weather Channel, and was interviewed by Sam Champion.
