Hunterdon Health Auxiliary donates $50,000 for new mobile blood transfusion equipment
RARITAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — The Hunterdon Health Auxiliary has donated $50,000 to Hunterdon Health’s Mobile Intensive Care Unit to fund the purchase of a new blood transfusion machine that will allow emergency medical teams to administer blood to patients before they arrive at the hospital.
Hospital officials said the advanced equipment will enable Mobile Intensive Care Unit personnel to provide life-saving blood transfusions at the scene of emergencies, expanding critical care capabilities in the field.
The donation was funded through the Auxiliary’s annual Splash of Sparkle Sunday brunch, which included a tricky tray, a Visa gift card raffle, a video highlighting the impact of the Mobile Intensive Care Unit and a testimonial from a patient whose life was saved by the emergency medical team.
Hunterdon Health thanked the Auxiliary and community members who supported the fundraiser.
Hospital officials said the donation will help bring an important new emergency medical capability to the region by allowing critically injured patients to receive blood transfusions sooner, before reaching the emergency department.
