Hunterdon Medical Center earns 2024–2025 New Jersey Influenza Honor Roll recognition
RARITAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Hunterdon Medical Center has been recognized with the 2024–2025 New Jersey Influenza Honor Roll for its exceptional employee vaccination program and high compliance rates, the hospital announced.
“We are very proud that the percentage of all staff (employees, licensed independent practitioners, and volunteers) that received the flu vaccine at Hunterdon Health was 99% in the 2024–2025 season,” said Lisa Rasimowicz, MSN, RN, CIC, CPPS, Administrative Director of Quality and Patient Safety, Quality Improvement, Patient Safety, and Nursing Epidemiology. “This percentage surpassed the most recent NJ reported adherence percentage of only 93% and the national reported adherence percentage of only 80%. In fact, since implementing our mandatory flu vaccine program in 2013–2014, our vaccination compliance has always exceeded these benchmarks.”
The New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) launched the Influenza Honor Roll in 2017 to honor institutions that promote influenza awareness and prevention within their communities. The recognition is open to educational institutions, businesses, community-based organizations, and medical facilities. Hunterdon Medical Center was one of only 11 healthcare facilities to receive the honor this year and has appeared on the list annually since 2018.
The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses and can range from mild to severe, occasionally resulting in hospitalization or death. While most healthy people recover without complications, certain groups — including pregnant women, young children, older adults, and individuals with chronic health conditions — face higher risks.
Health officials emphasize that the best way to prevent the flu is to get vaccinated annually, which also helps protect vulnerable populations and reduce community spread.
