I-280 west ramp to I-287, Route 46 to close Wednesday and Thursday nights in Parsippany
PARSIPPANY-TROY HILLS, N.J. (Morris County) — The New Jersey Department of Transportation will close the ramp from Interstate 280 westbound to Interstate 287 and Route 46 overnight Wednesday and Thursday as part of a bridge painting project.
The ramp will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, into Thursday, July 23, and again during the same hours Thursday night into Friday morning.
The closure is necessary to allow crews to paint the Interstate 80 eastbound bridge over I-280 and Route 46, according to NJDOT.
During the closure, motorists traveling on I-280 westbound and heading to I-287 or Route 46 will be detoured via I-80 westbound before reconnecting with I-80 eastbound to access Route 46 or I-287 northbound or southbound.
The overnight work is part of an $8.5 million federally funded bridge maintenance project that will repaint 10 bridges along I-80 in Morris and Bergen counties. NJDOT said the preventative maintenance is designed to protect bridge steel from corrosion, keep the structures in good condition and extend their service life.
Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time and follow the posted detours. The schedule is subject to change because of weather or other factors.
