I-287 northbound overnight lane closures required for the next several months in Somerset and Morris counties

I-287 northbound daytime shoulder closures next week

Overnight lane closures on I-287 northbound are scheduled to begin next week as a pavement preservation project gets underway between I-78 in Bedminster Township, Somerset County, and South Street/CR 601 in Morristown, Morris County. Daytime shoulder closures are also planned for construction sign installation.

I-287 Northbound Overnight Lane Closures

Starting at 8 p.m. Monday, May 12, until 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, and continuing Monday through Friday nights for the next several months, overnight lane closures are scheduled on I-287 northbound in various locations from I-78 in Bedminster to South Street/CR 601 in Morristown. The closures are necessary for restriping, removing raised pavement markings (RPMs) and rumble strips, and pavement repair.

At least one lane will remain open overnight. Motorists are advised to slow down, use caution, and expect delays in the work zone.
Approximately five ramps within the project limits will also be affected. In the event of an overnight ramp closure, motorists should follow posted detours.

I-287 Northbound Daytime Shoulder Closures

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, May 12, and daily from Tuesday, May 13 through Friday, May 16, daytime shoulder closures are scheduled on I-287 northbound between I-78 in Bedminster and South Street/CR 601 in Morristown for construction sign placement. If inclement weather occurs, daytime shoulder closures may continue into the following week, Monday, May 19 through Friday, May 23. Motorists should use caution and expect delays.

This work is part of the $7.7 million federally funded I-287 Northbound Pavement Preservation Project from I-78 to South Street/CR 601. The project includes milling and paving approximately 14 miles of roadway in Bedminster, Far Hills, and Bernards Township in Somerset County and Harding, Morris Township, and Morristown in Morris County. It will also include work on several ramps within the project limits and is expected to be completed in early fall 2025.
