Morris County Sheriff’s Office swears in new officers

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — Sheriff James M. Gannon swore in two new officers Friday during a ceremony held at the Historic Courthouse. The event was attended by family, friends, and members of the law enforcement community.

Sheriff’s Officer Michael Cardone earned a bachelor’s degree in Finance from St. Peter’s University in Jersey City and is currently pursuing his MBA. While at St. Peter’s, he was a catcher for the university’s Division I baseball team. Prior to joining the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, he worked at Crum & Forster as an Underwriting Assistant.

Sheriff’s Investigator Nazceer Whitley received a bachelor’s degree in Business from Seton Hall University. He began his law enforcement career in 2023 with the Bound Brook Police Department before transferring to the Morris County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigator Whitley also volunteers with the Bound Brook Fire Department and actively serves in his church under his pastor’s leadership. He is committed to community service through his nonprofit organization, The Day by Day Foundation.

Born and raised in Northwest NJ, Jay has a degree in Communications and has had a life-long interest in local radio and various styles of music. Jay has held numerous jobs over the years such as stunt car driver, bartender, voice-over artist, traffic reporter (award winning), NY Yankee maintenance crewmember and peanut farm worker. His hobbies include mountain climbing, snowmobiling, cooking, performing stand-up comedy and he is an avid squirrel watcher. Jay has been a guest on America’s Morning Headquarters,program on The Weather Channel, and was interviewed by Sam Champion.
