Five injured after multi-vehicle crash on Route 22 in Hunterdon County

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) — Five people were injured after a multi-vehicle crash on Route 22 in Hunterdon County Monday afternoon, according to police.

The four-vehicle crash occurred on Monday, April 14, around 3:50 p.m. in the area of Route 22 West and Petticoat Lane in Clinton Township, police said.

A preliminary investigation revealed that three vehicles—a black BMW, a black Dodge Ram, and a gray Honda CRV—were traveling westbound on Route 22 and slowing down for the traffic light at Petticoat Lane. A blue Jeep Compass failed to observe the slowing traffic and struck the rear of the BMW, triggering a chain reaction that pushed the BMW into the Dodge Ram, which then collided with the Honda CRV, police said.

The Jeep Compass, driven by a 69-year-old female, had a 35-year-old female passenger. Both were transported to Hunterdon Medical Center with suspected minor injuries, police said.

Also transported to Hunterdon Medical Center for evaluation were the 71-year-old male driver of the BMW and his 70-year-old female passenger, along with the 32-year-old female driver of the Honda CRV. All sustained suspected minor injuries, police said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Clinton Township Police Department.
