Journey to the ‘Edge of Darkness’ at the Longo Planetarium at County College of Morris

New Digistar 7 Planetarium System Powers an Unforgettable Lineup this Fall

RANDOLPH TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – Hold on tight! Starting this week, prepare for an immersive stargazing experience like never before at the Longo Planetarium at County College of Morris (CCM).

With the power of Digistar 7, the world’s most advanced planetarium system now installed at CCM, families, students, and astronomy enthusiasts can soar through this season’s thrilling adventures and experience the high-tech upgrade firsthand.

The newest show, “Edge of Darkness,” narrated by Hayley Atwell (Agent Carter from the Marvel Cinematic Universe), features a spectacular flight through comets and the asteroid belt to the edge of our Solar System and beyond. The return of the popular show “Big Astronomy” takes guests through the stunning skies of the southern hemisphere, exploring Chile’s giant telescopes and introducing the diverse team that operates the top observatories.

Each 45-minute show is recommended for adults and children ages 8 and up and is shown on select Fridays at 9:00 p.m. and Saturdays at 3:30 p.m. or 5:00 p.m.

For children ages 6 and up, “One Sky” is a perfect introduction to the beauty of the night sky, weaving together star stories from various cultures across the globe and featuring planets, constellations, and celestial events. This 40-minute show is offered on select Fridays at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 2:00 p.m.

Tickets for all shows are $10 per person. Online reservations are strongly encouraged, as limited tickets will be available for purchase at the door. All showings will start promptly at the indicated times.

County College of Morris is located at 214 Center Grove Rd, Randolph, NJ 07869. Visitors can park in Lot 7 and follow signage to walk toward the center of campus to the Longo Planetarium in Cohen Hall, Room 207.
